Blue Dolphin Engineering started in Fresno, California in 1999 with a vision and not much else. With no customers and very little money my wife Michele and I decided to go on an adventure and start our own business. The name of the company comes from my wife who suggested that we name it something unique compared to the other engineering firms. We had been to Pismo Beach recently and saw some dolphins close by the shore. Michele is an animal person and loves dolphins, so Blue Dolphin Engineering was born.
Persevering through long hours and performing competent and quality work led us to where we are today. We are now proud to be able to list among our customers and end clients such companies as Sunrise Medical, Grundfos, Indian Motorcycles, Sears, Home Depot and McLellan Industries. We have developed products and machines that have been sold all over the world and through a wide range of industries.
Now we are starting a new adventure. Through our relationship with Caroline Kay (formally owner of Silton Cases) we were introduced to B-K Lighting. We thought we could offer B-K Lighting some help in achieving their goals and apparently Doug Hagen thought so too. So after some long discussions a plan emerged. We decided to partner with Doug and form a new company, Blue Dolphin Engineering, Inc. Essentially, the new company combines the engineering resources of B-K Lighting and Blue Dolphin Engineering under one roof (literally). We will have our offices and prototype shop located in the same building as B-K Lighting. This synergistic relationship should help B-K Lighting sustain its successful rapid growth in the outdoor architectural and landscape lighting market as well as allow Blue Dolphin Engineering to continue the vision we started nine years ago. I am excited about what the future holds.
